Andrew Getraer
Executive Director

Andrew was born in Geneva, Switzerland and grew up in Queens, Westchester, and Greens Farms, CT. He is a graduate of the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, and Dartmouth College, where he met his amazing wife Jean. They live in Highland Park with their five children, Sandy, Alec, Benjy, Lindsay, and Sarah and their dog Colby. Arnold Schwarzenegger once sent him a Christmas tree in the mail.

Rabbi Esther Reed
Associate Director for Jewish Campus Life

Rabbi Reed grew up in East Brunswick, NJ.  She is a Conservative rabbi and lives in Highland Park with her husband, Mordy, and three sons, Isaac, Sammy and Jonah.

Sarah Portilla
Director of Engagement

Sarah was born and raised in the beautiful state of New Jersey.  She is a graduate of RU and received her MSW from University of Pennsylvania.  As a jersey girl she loves all things jersey including discussions of diners, garden state parkway exits and even the merits of not being allowed to pump ones own gas.  Sarah lives in South Brunswick with her husband Dan. She is very excited to be back at Rutgers!

Brittne Carlen
Engagement Associate

Brittne is from the Wild Wild West where cowboys actually exist.  All the way from Scottsdale, Arizona, Brittne moved to New Jersey in August.  She graduated in May from the University of Arizona where she majored in Sociology and minored in Judaic Studies.  She is really enjoying working at Rutgers, and is excited for snow!  Brittne loves meeting new people, so don't be shy and come say hi!

Rabbi Yisroel Porath

Rabbi Yisroel Porath originally from Cleveland, Ohio, grew up in Neve Daniel, Gush Etzion. He served in the IDF's Nachal combat unit, holds a B.Ed and certificate in Educational Counseling and received Rabbinic ordination from Yeshivat HaMivtar and Rabbi Zalman Nechemia Goldberg.

Rabbi Porath enjoys learning, teaching, music and playing basketball with students on College ave. He is privileged to work with his wife Shoshana and is the proud father of Eliana.

Shoshana Porath

Shoshana grew up in Queens, NY but made aliyah and has been living in Israel for 8 years.  She is a graduate of Bar Ilan University and Herzog Teachers’ College.   Shoshana, Yisroel and their cute daughter Eliana are currently living in New Brunswick, conveniently close to Rutgers Hillel- so stop by and visit!

Barbara Cohen
Capital Campaign Coordinator

Barbara grew up in Teaneck, NJ.  She is proud of her boys. The “big one” is an accountant and the “little one” is entering his junior year at Tufts, Barbara's alma mater.  She lives with her husband, whom she met at Tufts, in West Orange.

Lee Rosenfield
Development Director

Lee was the National Director of Development for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, a position he held for almost two years.  He also worked professionally for 12 years as Director of Institutional Advancement for Gratz College and as a Development Officer for Jewish Federations of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey.   

Lee received his Master of Public Administration from the University of Southern California  and Master of Jewish Communal Service degree from Hebrew Union College - Jewish Institute of Religion.  He attended the University of New Hampshire and the University of Granada in Spain as an undergraduate.  Lee lived in Israel for one year on Project Otzma.  Lee grew up in Salem, Mass. 

Laurie Zinberg
Office Manager

Laurie grew up in Perth Amboy, NJ. She lives in Springfield with her husband, Scott. Their daughter, Marissa, is a teacher of autistic children and their son, Greg is a recent graduate of Rutgers.

Jeremy Ruberg
Jewish Theological Seminary Rabbinical School Intern

Jeremy Brunn Ruberg is in his fourth year at the Rabbinical School at The Jewish Theological Seminary and is also in his final year pursuing an M.A. in informal and communal Jewish education at the William Davidson School of Jewish Education at JTS. Although born in Philadelphia, Jeremy lived the majority of his life in Norfolk, Va. He enjoys running on the streets of New York, watching sports on television and is really excited to be a part of Rutgers Hillel.

Jordana Ornstein
Social Work Intern

Jordana is from Elizabeth, NJ.  She graduated in May '09 from Douglass College with a major in Jewish Studies. Because Jordana LOVES Rutgers so much she will be sticking around for 2 more years to complete her MSW.  As an undergrad, Jordana was an active member of Delta Gamma and all things Greek, Dance Marathon, and of course Hillel! If you'd like to know more about any of those things, or to just talk about anything at all, Jordana will be happy to chitchat.  Come talk to Jordana anytime, she'll be on Brittne's couch!
