Shabbat is the holiday we celebrate every week! At Rutgers Hillel we run three different services each Friday night during the school-year. Orthodox, Conservative, and Reform.
Following Friday night services, we offer a FREE delicious Shabbat dinner each week, usually in the Faculty Dining Room in Brower Commons. Anywhere from 200-300+ students enjoy the friendly atmosphere at our dinners. Check the website calendar for times and confirmation of location.
On Saturday mornings Hillel has an Orthodox and a Conservative service. Students lead in all levels of services, from prayers to preparing a D’var Torah to reading each week’s Torah portion.
Shabbat afternoons there is an Orthodox minyan for Mincha, a communal (free) Seudah Shlishit, festive third meal, followed by singing, stories, or just chilling. Ma’ariv services are followed by a festive havdalah.
Student-led Friday night services begin between 6:30 pm and 7:30pm, depending on the week. On Shabbat morning we offer Orthodox services at 9:30am and Conservative services at 10am followed by a joint Kiddush.
